An Homage to the Black Swan and the dark side of ballet. I create the tutu skirt by hand and the hat was custom designed by one of my vendors for this shoot. Sock and Sandals? Yes!

Socks & Sandals.. yes you can, but with caution...

Socks and Sandals used to bring to mind old men with plaid shorts watering their lawn and socks with high heels makes you think of flash dance right?

but it doesn't have to be that way.. actually, socks and sandals or even high heels can be quite chic - the look trends often on lookbook.nu, but don't be afraid to try this look yourself. It is easy if you keep some simple rules.

1. Match the socks to the over all look in both color and texture. They shouldn't be the center of attention.

2. Consider the texture of the socks and how it adds layers and complexity to the shoe. It should compliment not distract.

3. Consider the height of the socks and how it works with your body type and leg length. Never work with lengths that make your legs look stubby or thick. Shorter socks are better for tall thin figures, while taller socks with some bunch room can make shorter legs look longer.

4. Be appropriate for where you are going, this look is great for the club or a night out, but won't work in the office. Use lace when you are trying to go for a sexier look.

5. Take summer sandals and wedges with you into winter by adding textured socks or tights. Keep those toes warm and create a fab look at the same time!

5. Create layers with colors and textures for a really unique looks.

6. Be bold with color, but be sure the colors compliment each other - primary colors work best. Have fun when you are going to parties, the mall or clubs...

7. Mix it up. Try different things, see what works!

Ana is the epitome of class. She exudes sophistication in these simple, yet elegant looks as captured by her hubby and photographer, Kevan Wilkinson.

Capturing a very chic look that is both sexy and allusive is easier than you think. Keep with basic colors, be bold with black and a POP of color (such as a scarf, blouse or large necklace). Do texture like sparkle or shimmer ONLY on a base color, like black. Never mix a bold color with a texture if you are going for Chic.. this is a BAD idea... keep makeup simple.. if you are going to do RED lipstick, keep your eye liner and shadow on the natural side. If you want to go smokey and bold with your eyes, choose a very nude lip stick to compliment...

Keep hair in check. Wild hair may be great for a sexy, super glam look.. but controlled hair says "Lady" like nothing else. So slick it, Roll it and Twist it... but don't let it frizz out!

Show some skin, but not too much. Strapless can be chic, but if your booty is hanging out, it cancels the effect. If you are covered up top, go ahead with a nice long slit at the leg... NO cut outs or peek a boos for this look... not too much cleavage either... it's what you hide that actually adds sexy appeal....

A Place In The Sun

**SPOILER ALERT**

My favorite Elizabeth Taylor film is "A Place in the Sun" - She has been quoted as saying that she never "tried to act until A Place in the Sun". She met Montgomery Clift on this film and they developed a very deep and lasting friendship. He inspired her to take acting more seriously although she was quite a show business veteran by this time.

What I love about this film is that it is dark and foreboding, deep and pensive and yet Elizabeth is like a radiant light in the midst of the darker elements. The character, George Eastman, played by Clift, was so obsessed with the lovely Angela Vickers, played by Elizabeth Taylor, that he murders his pregnant girlfriend, played by Shelley Winters. for a chance to be free to marry her...

Although he is convicted you never really know if he meant to do it or not and when the priest asks him what he was thinking about as she was drowning... a vision of Elizabeth, head thrown back after a long kiss, crosses his mind.... and you know... he is guilty..

This photo is from one of the sweetest scenes.. when Monty is on the phone with his Mother and Liz says "Hi Mama!" - Monty says "It's JUST a girl, Mama" - the look on her face is priceless... subtle little things like that made her who she was... more than a beauty.. an energy!

You have probably seen Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Suddenly Last Summer and Who's Afraid of Virginia AWolfe - and most likly even Cleopatra and Father of the Bride... but I would take a look at this film and if you want more Liz... check out Raintree County and BUtterfield 8 as well..

Hey Guys, these cute shots are part of the TRON meets Twiggy shoot - The dress is a vintage box dress with hand embroidered details. It was on loan from a local vintage dealer who has a shop in Echo Park. She is very cool and loaned us a bunch of fab gear for this shoot. The make up that Veronica did is out standing and the hair by Steff is spot on 60's diva... of course Francis Specker is the master of lighting techniques and captured actress Jill Rankin perfectly... I love it!

I love to take iphone photos behind the scenes as we shoot. These are some of the photos I have taken on set. So much goes on during a shoot from the moment the hair and make up people arrive, to the time the photog starts setting up his/her equipment, it is chaotic and awesome at the same time. Everyone involved is a voice in the process and contributes to the out come of the project. It's fun and a lot of work all at the same time. No Egos, No Drama, Just Creativity.

Marie and Me...

Sorry I didn't get better photos of this get-up! I went to my cousin's Marie Antoinette themed party last night and used nothing but stuff I already had in my closet to throw together an interpretation of the look. I did the big hair with a mini hat, a tiny blue bird and threw on a ton of pearls. I wore bright pink tights with bow accents on the ankles and put leggings over them and scrunched them up to just below the knee. The top was a mini dress and then my mock waist-coast jacket for the buttons and puffed sleeves. I really love this theme and an excuse to do big hair too. :)

I have always wanted to do a shoot at a carnival or arcade. There is a cute little arcade at Shoreline Village where they said they would be cool with my doing a shoot using the carousel and the arcade itself. I have this vision off this look... part Marie Antoinette, part Harajuku... elaborate make up... BIG hair... mega colors in the clothing and fabulous off-beat poses. I have these really cool Betsey Johnson rainbow sandals and a vintage mini skirt that would work perfectly for this look.

I am sure I can put this shoot together before the summer is over... who wants to work on it with me????

It was a gorgeous day in the middle of winter and we had all gathered at Bluff Park in Long Beach, California to do a boho beach shoot. Everyone on the team are true troopers because I think we shot like 10 looks! This was the super sexy vixen... The top is a vintage 60's shingle tank that captured the light perfectly, paired with cut off jean shorts and strappy heels it takes the look over the top.I added a slew of golden charm bracelets and lantern earrings to create a very eclectic feel. I walk past this periscope every day pretty much and I love it's color. I had always wanted to shoot here, because of the perspective the cliff and the ocean give to this path. Eva is an amazing model - she has a lot of great "off-main-stream" poses that really create an attitude.

I am a big fan of vintage lace and long strands of pearls are my signature. I adore them. Here I used a mix of lace and pearls to create a very delicate chic feel. The black textured tights and black slip added a layer of moodiness to the look. The fur coat was on loan from Letron, it added a luxury that off set the innocence of the lace.

Eva is one of my favorite models ever, her attitude is always spot on with the style and here she exudes a very brooding, yet somehow hopeful energy. Steffani, from the hair studio 108 created the perfect 60s inspired hair style with sweeping bangs and messy strands for a sexy effect. Eva did her own make up for this shoot (she is a professional make up artist by trade) and I love the nude lips and dark smokey eyes... Bebe Jacobs captured the look in such a bright honest clarity... she rocks!

Sometimes you gotta wash clothes, but sometimes you just have to look hot in them! The boots are about 40 years old, and hot - the top I rescued from the goodwill and trimmed with some new buttons, toss on some jean cut offs and you have SEXY! Of course, we had the straw hat i bent into a cowboy hat with us all day, so we played with that. Love it!

I styled this photoshoot with a gorgeous maxi summer dress, the colors were so amazing against the model's tan skin. The bohemian strands of beads add just enough style to the neckline while tons of gold charm bracelets lace her wrist to convey that this is not ANY beach boho-the old gardening hat I fashioned into a cowboy hat is perfect for the relaxed look.

Dance wear and warm ups are just so cool, even if you are just handing out at the coffee shop. I put together this outfit as sort of a tango instructor on break.. love these shoes...

I love lace... this look is going to be shot this saturday on a model who is rather a tiny little thing, but it is great because i inherited a ton of wardrobe last week for my collection that had size 6.5 shoes. I can't believe anyone's feet are that size.

I loved the old GUESS ads with Drew Barrymore, this is sort of an homage to that sort of sluttish, hot girl look. I have a model shooting with this style on Saturday in Beverly Hills. Can't wait to see the pics! I will post them as soon as I get them!
